The Mission

The mission of the Hanover Township Youth Football and Cheerleading (HTYFC) is to provide a safe, fun learning environment for the youth of our community. We strive to create an opportunity for kids to work together as a team toward common goals. We emphasize sportsmanship, teamwork and respect for authority figures (Directors, Coaches, and Game Officials). While we are not a farm system for high school football programs, we recognize the impact we may have on those programs. Our focus is on developing good life skills through the sports of football and cheerleading.

The Program

Our program is open to all young boys in grades K – 8th who are interested in playing football. The registration for the program is generally the first week in April and remains open till start of the Football season which is the second week in August. At the time of registration each child must bring a copy of their birth certificate.  During the registration process your child’s age and weight will be checked in order to place them into the proper league. Once the league has been determined you will directed to the coach’s table to fill out registration paperwork and pay the registration fee.  The 2008 registration fees are as follows

Flag Football - $50.00
Football (2nd – 8th) - $135.00
Football Jersey  - $45.00

Cheerleading - $85.00

All equipment is supplied by the program except the game jersey which you will need to pay for at the time of registration. Equipment is distributed in the Month of July and is collected back at the conclusion of the season. The football teams will practice starting in the first week in August and are generally set up  2-3 times per week, 2 hours per session, and are either conducted at the Brickyard Field ( next to Bee Meadow Pool) or at Memorial Junior High School. Games for the Pre-Clinc through Super Peewee are generally played on Saturdays; while PeeWee through Varsity generally play on Sundays (there may be some night games on Saturday if the home team has lights. The Tigers home field is Whippany Park High School.

If you have any questions about the program please refer to the contacts section of the web site.

The League

The football program participates in the Morris County Midget Football League (MCMFL) which is broken down in seven structured leagues based upon a child's age and weight. Please refer to the league sections of the web site for specifics. In addition, Teams within the MCMFL are broken down into two divisions American and National where teams are generally assigned based upon the enrollment of their High Schools in order to make fair competition. Each division has two conferences Iron and Hills in the National Division and Morris and Northern in the American Division. Our Tigers currently play in the American Division / Northern Conference. The American Division has a total of 10 teams at each level and during the season we play each of the team once for a 9 game schedule. For further information about the league you can visit www.mcmfl.com .
